I RUN AMUCK – Commit. Persist. Endure
The I RUN AMUCK club exists to challenge runners and walkers to stay fit by completing a 5k or half marathon each month for twelve consecutive months (or longer!).
We stand on the following key principals:
This isn’t easy, nothing that is has much significance. The fact is not everyone has the wherewithal to commit to twelve months of fitness and ever changing weather conditions; those that do are exceptional.
Join us in our quest to “Commit. Persist. Endure” and be exceptional.
You can choose to run or walk a 5k each month (3.1x12 Challenge) or a half marathon each month (13.1x12 Challenge) (half marathon/month); whichever aligns with your fitness goal. It’s a rolling year so you can start NOW. Races can be completed in several ways that give you the flexibility to get your monthly run in the books (See the Racebook).
Feel free to contact Barb O'Brien or Scott Cranfill if you have any questions.
13.1x12 was the original challenge of the I RUN AMUCK club with the first race held on January 22, 2011. It was started by marathoners looking for more time in their “real life” i.e. they didn’t have time to train for another marathon but wanted a way to stay fit and challenged.
The 13.1x12 challenge will give you just that- It’s a chance to do something that just crazy people do: run or walk a half marathon for 12 consecutive months. That’s 157.2 total race miles!
Details about the 13.1x12 challenge:
What:Complete a I RUN AMUCK half marathon race, other organized half marathon, or a personal route (details below) each month for 12 months. It’s a rolling year so you can start ANYTIME.

Where:So what if you can’t travel to some warm weather climate to run/ walk a race? What if you can’t find an official race to run? Oh, we have you covered:
I RUN AMUCK races will be held in the Indianapolis area each month (see the Race Calendar). Races will be officially timed, on course drinks/snacks, and post-race drinks/snacks provided. Plus, we always finish our I RUN AMUCK runs with a social gathering at a local eating/drinking establishment. What more do you need?
Other organized race - You pick. Select a half marathon in your town, where you travel on business or vacation, or anywhere else in the world!
Personal route - If you can’t make one of these races you can still be "official". Just record your run/walk via a GPS device like a Garmin watch, post your run or walk on our "Racebook", and email us the GPS info. We will use this as your official monthly race.

I started running in 2008 in order to run in The Komen Race for the Cure. Since then I have completed five marathons, twenty half marathons and numerous 5K's.
