The i run amuck club originally began in December 2010 as the 13.1x12 club. Local runners/walkers wanted a program to stay fit and to keep exercising exciting so we created a challenge for them: complete a half marathon each month for twelve consecutive months...or longer!
As we head into our second year with 50+ active members all across the country, we strive to expand our frenzy to as many as possible……so we have become the i run amuck club. This new name reflects a fun and crazy approach to staying fit through running and walking challenges.
The i run amuk club consists of two challenges: 3.1x12 (5k/month) and 13.1x12 (half marathon/month). Both challenge members to complete a monthly run or walk (5k or half marathon) in consecutive months over a 12 month period. It’s a r
olling year so you can start NOW.
Races can be completed in several ways that give you the flexibility to get your monthly run in the books (See the Racebook). Members can participate in monthly i run amuck races, organized races in your area, or your own personal route.
Each challenge has two levels, “Gold” and “Silver” so you get exactly what you need from the club. Become a Gold Member and get admittance to a full year of i run amuck race events, a club shirt, monthly certificates, monthly newsletters, and year end finisher medal. We put on these races as a low cost alternative for our members. You just can’t find 12 organized races at a better price than the cost of the Gold membership. We created the Silver option for those that don’t plan to attend i run amuck races; Silver members will get all of the above and admittance to 1 i run amuck event. We are certain that once you attend one of the club races you'll want to do them all!
Feel free to contact Barb O'Brien or Scott Cranfill if you have any questions.
13.1x12 was the original challenge of the i run amuck club with the first race held on January 22, 2011. It was started by marathoners looking for more time in their “real life” i.e. they didn’t have time to train for another marathon but wanted a way to stay fit and challenged.
The 13.1x12 challenge will give you just that- It’s a chance to do something that just crazy people do: run or walk a half marathon for 12 consecutive months. That’s 157.2 total race miles!

I have been running since 2004. It wasn't until 2007 that I signed up for a race, the Komen, to celebrate my mom's breast cancer victory! That got me hooked! Since then I've run several shorter races, 4 half marathons, and 3 marathons. In 2012, I hope to get a new PB on the half marathon distance and am considering another full marathon in the fall.
